The mysterious spirit of Lapland Woods

At the Oranki Environmental Art Park, one may sence the spirit of the forest,
the pantheistic connection with nature that Finnish culture is rooted in.
The exhibition has a collection of over 30 Environmental artworks.
Most of the works are made of materials found in the family forest of the exhibition area .

Pertti Saari 2005: Puut kuuntelee

"The trees are listening" work of artist Pertti Saari.

Artworks of Sauli Miettunen communicate also with the social and cultural environment
as well as with space and nature. At his works, the holy spirit of natur is not laying in peace.
It is struggling against an anonymous and unnatural life forms.
He has also develop a method to twist natur wood.

There is over 30 artworks of wellknown finnish artist, also some artist from other lands.

Lapin metsien mystinen henki!

Oranki ympäristötaidepuiston teoksista aistii metsänhengen ja kulttuurimme
juuret panteistisessa metsänhenkien palvonnassa. Teoksissa, valtaosassa, puu elää
taideteosten materiaalinakin. Vaikka kokoelmaa on lähdetty tekemään teematta on metsä,
yötön-yö ja luonto selvästi ottanut taiteilijat valtaansa.

Vaikka luonto ja sen mystiikka tulevat pääsijalla esiin;
kuten Pertti Saari antoi puille korvat kuunnella, löytyy myös sisältöjä, jotka laajenevat metsän ulkopuolelle.
Esim. Sauli Miettusen, mielenkiintoinen puuveistäjä Kemistä, teoksissa luonnonhenki tuntuu kamppailevan nahoissaan
jotain tunnistamatonta uhkaa vastaan. Hän vääntelee puutansa tavalla, joka tuo mieleen geeni- ja solutasolla
olevan uhan.
Näyttelykokoelmasta löytyy niin pohjoisen kuin etelänkin tunnettuja tekijöitä. Mukana on myös ulkomaalaisia taiteilijoita.

The exhibition area is in the forest on the top of ridge. The ridge consist of gravel and sand.
This beatifull hill scene is not permanent. Here is different colours of sand and gravel supplies waiting for transporting

Näyttely on metsässä, soraharjun laella leviten sorakuopalle. Soranotto muuttaa luonnon maisemaa. Kuvan kummut ovat erivärisiä hiekkoja ja soraa, jotka odottaa kuljetusta.

Taking of gravel breaks the natural shape of the landscape.
Environmental artist Alba, 2004, (Espoo),
puts up ladders towards the sky .

Espoolainen taiteilija Alba pystytti 2004 tikapuita sorakuopan laitamille. Tikkaat johtavat kohti taivasta.

Most of the works are near the road at top of the ridge, expect red man of Lasse Lassheikki. But you can see it from the ridge.

Lähes kaikki teokset ovat harjun tien varressa paitsi Lasse Lassheikin kaukana metsän sisuksessa. Se näkyy harjulle.

The Forest belongs to local farmers. The family takes wood from the forest excample for heating. Photo of wood supplies.

Metsä on yksityisen maatilayhtymän perhemetsää. Metsästä haetaan ja siellä varastoidaan mm polttopuita.

At the end of the exhibition area at top of the hill is a private cottage of the farmer. Entrance is forbidden.
