Perhosten kello, perhosten Bruno / Butterfly clock, Butterfly Bruno

Teos on vertauskuvallinen aurinkokello. Perhosten kellossa ei ole numeroita, se osoittaa vain olemassaolon liikettä. Teos muistuttaa, että elämme aikaa, jolloin on syytä tehdä viisaita päätöksiä. Maapallon ekoisysteemi on nyrjähtämässä pois tasapainosta. Luonnon kiertokulku on paljon hitaampi kuin ihmisen luontoa verottava tehokkuuden ja kuluttamisen aika.

This work is an allegory of a sundial. There are no numerals in the Butterfly Clock as it only shows life's movement. The work reminds us that we live in an era when we should make wise decisions. The world eco system is teetering out of balance. Nature's own cycle is far slower than the manmade scale of efficiency and consumerism that exploits Nature.

Kellon keskellä seisoo puusta veistetty "Bruno". Veistoksen historiallinen "esikuva", varsinainen Bruno- patsas on Roomassa. Giordano Bruno oli 1500-luvun lopulla elänyt filosofi ja kosmologi. Omana aikanaan Bruno jäi yksin puolustamaan omintakeisia ajatuksiaan valtakulttuuria vastaan. Jämsän Bruno on toisin ajattelemisen vertauskuva. Se haluaisi sanoa: "Älkää tehkö tuhoisia ratkaisuja."

In the centre of the clock, there is a figure, "Bruno", carved out of wood. The historical model for the sculpture, the real figure of Bruno, is located in Rome. Giordano Bruno was a 16th century philosopher and cosmologist. In his time, Bruno stood alone defending his peculiar ideas against the mainstream culture. Bruno of Jämsä is a symbol of alternative thinking. He wishes to say to us: "Do not make destructive decisions."

Jämsän jokivarren "Perhosten kello, perhosten Bruno" on tehty kierrätysmateriaalista. The Jämsä riverside art work "Butterfly Clock, Butterfly Bruno" is made from recycled materials. Teos on taiteilijoiden Pekka Kainulainen ja Iiris Pessa yhteisprojekti, ideasta toteutukseen. Taiteilijat ovat tehneet aiemmin yhdessä myös museo-ja galleria näyttelyitä sekä teatterilavastuksia.
